Hoosick Falls

March 21, 2020 By steve bradley

The ‘Wedding Tree’ Shop Burns

By Steve Bradley

At six am Saturday morning, March 14, a call went out for a structure fire at 156 Main Street. Hoosick Falls firefighters arrived to find an outbuilding engulfed in flames. That outbuilding, a good sized structure that years ago housed the Wedding Tree Shop, was located about 100 feet from the rear of the main building on the property. The main building, originally a mansion, is now owned by Chris Raynor and has several empty apartments in it.

The fire was quickly brought under control. The building was a total loss. Hoosick Falls Fire Department called in Buskirk, West Hoosick, Hoosick, North Hoosick, Pittstown. Those several departments were called with the thought if the large main house caught fire they all would be needed. Bennington and Center Brunswick were asked to standby in quarters. Town of Hoosick Rescue had two teams at the scene.
