An Open Letter To Our Community

April 5, 2020 By steve bradley

Unprecedented Times For All Of Us

First, The Eastwick Press sincerely hopes everyone is well, and urge we all follow the guidelines set forth by the Center for Disease Controls. We would like to assure everyone, while we too have had to make some changes, we are committed to continue publishing a paper every week. You may have noticed we have reduced the size slightly. This is because, like all businesses, we have to adjust to our revenue stream, and the fact that with almost everything shutdown, there is less to report on.

We are also taking whatever precautions necessary to protect the health and welfare of our associates.

It is easy to say hang in there, we will get through this, but at The Eastwick Press, we firmly believe we will. Locally, as a state and as a country, we are the most resilient people on the face of the earth. We have faced great challenges, trials, and tragedy before, and like the great Phoenix, we have risen from the ashes of despair, grieved our losses, licked our wounds, and stood prouder and stronger than we ever have.

Look around you, everywhere you see people helping people, communities banding together, picking up the slack where others are unable. Our medical community is working feverously to find treatments for COVID-19 and vaccinations so we never have to face this disease to such a degree again.

The impact of this pandemic is not only on one’s health and wellbeing, but economically as well. That may prove to take longer to recover from. There is no doubt, many will suffer, and some businesses will not survive. We will, however, adapt. Our economy will come back as people are able to resume living a normal life. Where there are losses, there will also be opportunity for new ideas and ventures. As with the Great Depression, 9-11 and the recession of 2001, we clawed our way back, and we will this time as well.

Finally, if you have stories of help, hope and kindness, we would like to share them. Please contact us at news@eastwickpress.com or call 518-491-1613.

Sincerely,

Tom Withcuskey
