Annual BCSD 1 Mile Fun Run And 5K Will Be Run Virtually

Submitted by Rachel Turetsky

Due to the coronavirus precautionary measures the Annual Berlin 1 Mile Fun Run and 5K scheduled for May 2, has been canceled. However, we want to encourage the BCSD community to get out and get moving so we are converting the 1 Mile Fun Run and 5K to a Virtual Race.

A Virtual Race can be run whenever and wherever you want during the designated race week of 4/27-5/3. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, a trail, treadmill, track, or even around your coffee table. You run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. For this race, there are no fees, no awards and no t-shirts. What you get is a chance to reconnect with our BCSD community, personal pride and bragging rights!

Proceeds of this year’s annual run were to benefit the SMITH Scholarship, if you are still interested in making a donation please contact Ariel Gilbert at agilbert@berlincentral.org.

To show your Mountaineer spirit, wear your green and gold or Berlin gear and start sending us pictures of you and your families training.  If you have already been training (like Mr. Santarcangelo), tell us about your finishing results!

We will share your results and photos on our website and Facebook page at the end of each week. Please send your photos and time submissions to rturetsky@berlincentral.org.

At the conclusion of the Berlin Virtual 1 Mile Fun Run and 5K Race Week of 4/27-5/3, we will list the participants and share your results and/or pictures if you would like.

Happy Virtual running, jogging or walking!
