Town Board Meets In Open Session
Looks At A Digital Platform
For May Gathering
By Doug La Rocque
With only two members of the public present, the Grafton Town Board held a 13-minute session on Monday, April 13, to pay bills and buy equipment for the highway department.
The board agreed to acquire two new trucks, one an F-550 tandem with dump box for $66,000 and the other a F-350 pickup with a $38,000 price tag. The costs include a plow and are being purchased from Carmody Ford in Greenwich.
The board also approved the purchase of a 2015 excavator from Park East Equipment in Brunswick. Highway Superintendent Jarod Bouchard says that unit comes with rubber instead of steel tracks and is being paid for out of this years budgeted funds. The cost is $65,000, but Park East is allowing $13,000 in trade in for the town’s current excavator. Both the new trucks will be on a three-year lease agreement.
There was some confusion as to how the meeting was going to be held, in the open or digitally, with Town Justice Becky Greene saying she could not find any information about it on the town’s website. Supervisor Ingrid Gundrum apologized and said the town is looking into using Zoom for its May board meeting.
Town Clerk Vicki Burdick turned over a check for $4,502 to the town representing monies collected by her office in March, and the meeting was adjourned in memory of Nanette Plouf.
