The Fashionistas Go Virtual

Submitted by Mary Haynes, Program Leader

The Fashionistas 4-H Club hit the ground running at the beginning of the year preparing for County Public Demonstrations that were to be held on March 21 at Tamarac School and the 4-H Fashion Review scheduled for April 4 in Valatie. Like everyone else, their plans were altered. Thankful for their resourcefulness, Rensselaer County 4-H made it possible for the girls to present at home while submitting their demonstrations via youtube.com to be viewed by the 4-H staff.

Lucy K. Haynes, Jessica Haynes and Amelia Pello, practicing their County Public Demonstrations in the beginning of March, before the quarantine. Photo provided.

This is the 5th year the Fashionistas have done demonstrations and their requirements included a lengthy presentation between 10 and 15 minutes long. Amelia chose to do her demonstration on How To Make a Terrarium. Lucy K. demonstrated How To Make a One Crust Pie Shell and Jessica’s presentation was How To Prepare a Record Book as a Fair Entry. The girls did a great job practicing and presenting their topics and will be encouraged to present them to a live audience at this year’s Schaghticoke Fair, Labor Day Weekend.
