Former Resident and Mother Victims of COVID-19

Facebook pages started lighting up on Tuesday, April 7, with news that Noordin Said, a former three sport athlete at Hoosick Falls Central School (HFCS) and described as a pillar of the community, died, along with his mother Anezia, from complications of COVID-19 in New York City.

Mr. Said was a 1982 graduate of HFCS and a founding member of the JLS foundation which provides mentoring and professional networking for current and recent HFCS graduates. He was also an honorary board member of the Hoosick Fall Community Center.

An article in the April 8 edition of the Bennington Banner quotes Community Center board vice president Lori Kempf as saying “it’s just heartbreaking.” Ms. Kempf is also quoted in the article as saying “He truly cared about Hoosick Falls and helped so many. He made a huge impact on so many lives.”

Mr. Said was also instrumental in bring NBA star Quinn Cook and WNBA’s Brian Hartley to Hoosick Falls for a basketball camp several years back.

Noordin Said was 56 years old.
