Thayne Signs With UAlbany
The University at Albany women’s basketball team and head coach Colleen Mullen have announced the signing of four student-athletes for the upcoming 2020-21 season. Joining the Great Danes this winter are Ellen Hahne, Logan Thayne, Kayla Cooper and Channa Hayes.
“We are excited to announce our 2020-2021 recruiting class. These four talented individuals are driven students, strong leaders and terrific role models who will fit in perfectly with our Great Dane culture of family, academics and athletics. They will provide additional depth and athleticism to our backcourt as well as provide size and talented rebounding in our front court.”

Logan Thayne: Hoosick Falls, NY
Thayne, a star center from Hoosick Falls High School, averaged 24.0 points, 14.8 rebounds and 6.6. blocks per game in her final scholastic season. She garnered Wasaren League first team accolades as well as three consecutive Times Union first-team nods. The senior finished her career with 1,723 points, 1,156 rebounds and 453 blocked shots.
“We are excited that Logan chose to stay close to home and pursue her college career in the purple and gold. She is a talented post who will bring a terrific inside-out presence and will help to replace much needed size and strength with the graduation of Alexi Schecter and Amanda Kantzy.
Ellen Hahne: Stockholm, Sweden
Hahne, a 5-11 transfer from Wake Forest appeared in 52 games for the Deacons, grabbing 54 rebounds. The Stockholm, Sweden native tallied a total of 43 points, 30 of which came during her freshman campaign. In high school she was tabbed Player of the Year in 2018, played for the Sweden National Team, finishing third at the U16 European Championship B Division in 2015.
Channa Hayes: Suitland, MD
Hayes, a senior from Bishop McNamara High School averaged 16 points per game with a 75% field goal percentage. Bishop McNamara was the #1 ranked girls high school basketball team in the state of Maryland, with a record of 27-5. Hayes helped her team win its first Washington Catholic Athletic Conference since 2008.
Kayla Cooper: Franklin, MD
Cooper, a senior from Saint John’s Catholic Prep High School, is a 2016 MVP of Maryland Mid-Amateur League, a 2017-2018 IAAM Character coin award recipient and 1,000-point scorer. Cooper also earned 2019 First Team All-Frederick County accolades.
