2018 Death Now Ruled A Homocide

“Thirty one year old Megan Dyer-Maclean was found deceased in a wooded area near her home in Johnsonville on June 4, 2018.”

For nearly two years, the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police Major Crimes Unit have continued to investigate the suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, which is now being investigated as a homicide.

High levels of Strychnine were detected in Dyer-Maclean’s body. Strychnine is a bitter and highly poisonous compound which was used as a rodenticide, but is not commonly used today.

Hundreds of leads have been generated and followed up on by Investigators, but we believe that someone out there may have information that would be helpful in solving this case.

Anyone with information that may assist in this investigation is encouraged to call the tip line at “1-800-Give Tip” (1-800-448-3847) or e-mail
critnetip@troopers.ny.gov.

The sheriff’s department has previously stated they do not believe there is any danger to other residents of the area.

No further information is available at this time.
