Looking For Warmth
This Garter Snake (Thamnophis sirtalis) was found in the woods of Petersburgh last week. These common snakes spend their winter in groups and emerge in April to bask in the sun and reproduce.
The males emerge first and wait for the larger females to exit the dens. The young are born in late summer.
