Lawmakers Come Bearing Masks In Hand

Rensselaer County Legislators Bruce Patire and Jeff Wysocki delivered masks to the Hoosick Falls Senior Center to be given to residents at the senior housing buildings at Woodpark and Woodbridge.  Several of these residents do not drive, and do not wish to receive the Home Delivered Meals that Rensselaer County is providing.  County Executive Steve McLaughlin provided 2 masks for each of the seniors on the Home Delivery Meal program and has also provided mask distribution at the North Hoosick Fire House on Wednesday, April 29.

Hoosick Town Councilmen Bill Hanselman and Jerry McAuliffe have been volunteering to help Cindy Mattison, Director of Senior Centers, with needs of senior residents in the town  since the center closed in March.   Bill and Jerry will deliver masks to both senior housing buildings for residents that could not get to North Hoosick and are not receiving Home Delivery Meals.  “As we all know, the older population has the highest risk if they contract COVID-19 and we want to do everything we can to protect them,” stated Bruce Patire.

If you are a Rensselaer County resident 60 and over, you are eligible for Home Delivery Meals.  Please contact the Rensselaer County Aging Department at 518-270-2730, or Cindy at 518-686-7561 to be added to the run.  There are also some masks available at the senior center.
