BCSD To Appoint New Middle/High School Principal

Submitted by the Berlin Central School District

At its June 16 meeting, the Berlin Central School District Board of Education is expected to appoint Ms. Jodi Sullivan to the position of Middle School/High School Principal, effective July 1. Ms. Sullivan’s appointment comes following the retirement of long-time BCSD teacher and principal Dr. Cathie Allain.

Sullivan has served as the Assistant Principal of Maple Hill Junior/Senior High School in Schodack since 2017, and nine years prior to that as a teacher and teacher leader in the Chatham Central School District.

“After a very productive and rigorous search process involving over 30 candidates, I am pleased to announce Ms. Sullivan’s appointment. The search committee and I were impressed with her candor, credentials, academic background and preparation and related school experiences. I am confident she will continue the excellent teaching and learning that occurs in our MS/HS classrooms,” said Superintendent Dr. Stephen Young.

Sullivan earned a Bachelor’s degree in Adolescent Education – English from the State University of New York College at Geneseo, a Master’s degree in Literacy from the University at Albany and completed the Leadership Academy for School Administration at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

“I am excited and full of hope that we will be able to get to know one another very soon.  The timing is certainly difficult with so many people working and learning remotely, but I will do my very best to learn about you and what is important to your community.  I was completely energized by the interview process and could easily see myself working right alongside the teachers, parents, community members and educational leaders at Berlin.  I so gladly accepted Dr. Young’s offer to become the Principal of Berlin Middle/High School and can’t wait to get started,” said Ms. Sullivan.
