No Landfill Test Results Yet
In April New Lebanon Town Supervisor Tistrya Houghtling announced that the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) completed water testing at the old landfill on Old Post Road. They found it had found levels of PFOA and PFOS above standards established by New York State. DEC announced at that time, it would begin sampling homeowners wells within a quarter mile down gradient of the landfill as part of its investigation. It was expected the results would be available sometime in May.
The Eastwick Press spoke with Supervisor Houghtling on Wednesday, June 3 about the delay and was told “Seems something happened with the previous samples and they had to recollect samples which they did late last week. So we’re probably looking at three to four weeks again. That said, DEC said it can’t give the Town results as they are confidential but encouraged me to reach out to the property owners whose wells were tested. I contacted all the property owners and they will all forward me the results as soon as they receive them.”
The Supervisor plans to give a report to the Town Board at its meeting on Tuesday, June 9.
