First Landfill Neighborhood Well Tests Are In
by Doug La Rocque
In April of this year, New Lebanon Town Supervisor Tistrya Houghtling announced that the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) had completed water testing at the old landfill on Old Post Road. They found it had levels of PFOA and PFOS above standards established by New York State.

DEC announced at that time, it would begin sampling homeowners wells within a quarter mile down gradient of the landfill as part of its investigation.
According to Supervisor Houghtling, the results of three of the well tests have come back negative for PFOA contamination. She tells The Eastwick Press that given the location of these wells, this was expected. There are still about 10 more tests awaiting results.
This is the second round of testing, according to DEC, something happened to the first tests that required they be repeated in late May.
