Avoid Eating this Bolete
This mushroom belongs to the Bolete (Boletaccae) family. Instead of gills, boletes have a thick spongy layer under the cap. There are more than 200 species of boletes found in North America.
At least three species are yellow and red similar to this one and stain blue when pinched. One species is edible and another species is not, so it is best to avoid eating mushrooms like this.
