EC Fund’s 15th Annual Golf Tournament A Great Success

August 14, 2020 By steve bradley

by Mary Bradley

So the 15th annual EC SCRAMBLE is in the books. Saturday was a wonderful day to be outside with friends and family at the Hoosick Falls Country Club. As always the day was a great success.

We would like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all of the wonderful comments about our “organization.” It was also greatly appreciated  that everyone adhered to the mask rules and respected the current situation to ensure that risk for all was decreased.

The winners this year were Steve Bellmare, Tyler Bellmare, Ed Sennett and Hogan Sennett with a score of 53 (15 under). Second place went to Steve Carknard, Keegan Corbett, Matt Wilkinson and Kelly Kennedy with a score of 55 (13 under).

As always the generosity, good will and humanity of our participants has shone through again this year as Greg Bulson the winner of the 50/50 ($700) donated all of it back without hesitation. This is the second time he has done that. A big thanks to Ceil Brandi who donated back her winnings for closest to the pin in the ladies contest for the PM flight.

Thanks to our dedicated 50/50 sellers Megan Henry and Maddy Atherton. They have been with us for several years and have really really got the knack for getting some of the highest 50/50 totals we have seen at this type of event.

We also have sweatshirts and t-shirts available if anyone is interested. (Contact Kathi at 518-686-3230).

Speaking of t-shirts, each year we donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the shirts to someone who is experiencing a medical circumstance that can be challenging both physically as well as emotionally. We only request that the recipient use the money to do something FUN to relax with family, friends, etc.

This year we donated $400 to Melissa Cleary. And once again the generosity and humanity of this community was even more heartwarming as that donation was matched by Johnny Bombard (MOK) almost immediately. Just wonderful.

We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to all of our friends and family who come up without any hesitation each year and spend the day helping us out with all sorts of tasks from setting up and organizing (often keeping us on track) to carrying out necessary but often unnoticed details throughout the day. To our Chinese auction queens, inside 50/50 sales and t-shirt girls THANKS.  You know who you are and more importantly we know who you are. (But… I am worried I will forget someone so I do apologize for not trying to name everyone).

Many thanks to the HFCC staff for putting in all of the extra effort of hosting this event during such difficult circumstances. You took all of the necessary measures required seriously and executed with professionalism. Much appreciated.

And finally thanks to all who golfed and all of those that did not golf but took some time out of the day to stop up and support us. I know that everyone spends a bunch of money each year on all of the extras (shirts, tickets, etc) and that is what make this so fun and profitable.

We were actually toying with ending this organization but the younger kids have decided that it must go on. In the words of our children “We can’t stop this. It helps too many kids.” Very proud of them. So, the old guys and gals are retiring this year.

GOD BLESS all of you and see you next year when the younger generation will have taken this over.
