Hoosick Is A Purple Heart Community
On Sunday, August 7, representatives of American Legion Post 40 and the Town of Hoosick Historical Society were joined in Wood Park by many veterans who have been awarded the Purple Heart. Purple Heart Medal is given to members of the armed forces of the United States who are wounded by an instrument of war in the hands of the enemy and posthumously to the next of kin in the name of those who are killed in action or die of wounds received in action.
The evening ceremony was well attended by many area veterans, and was part of the national Purple Heart Day.;n
