1,000 Cranes Reaches New Heights
CiviCure’s 1,000 CRANES origami fundraising project is reaching new heights! We are over halfway to our goal of raising $1,000 in support of the HACA food pantry in Hoosick Falls. The folded paper birds are made of intricately patterned and multicolored papers that are selected by each person whose has chosen to contribute to the project. Flights of ten birds suspended from fish line can be seen in windows all over the Village. It’s easy to participate whether you want to do the folding yourself or sponsor someone to do it on your behalf. Just check out the instructions on the CiviCure Facebook page. Free folding papers are available for anyone who wants to get involved.

CiviCure (Civic and Cultural Restoration) is a Hoosick Falls cultural not-for-profit focused on using the arts as a catalyst for community revitalization. 1,000 Cranes is organized by CiviCure board member Melodee James. James conceived of the project to make a connection between the replacement of the roof on CiviCure’s Wood Block building (with the aid of mechanical cranes) and the beautiful Japanese origami birds that represent good luck. She has garnered participation from many community advocates including the Hoosac School art department led by Spencer Sussman whose international students, Pedro Costa from Brazil and Minqi Hu from China, both donated their efforts.
CiviCure thanks everyone who has contributed by folding cranes or sponsoring someone to fold them for you. We welcome your participation in helping the community by supporting the HACA food pantry.
