Monarchs are Here
Monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus) are in the area laying their eggs on milkweed plants.
Here is a medium-sized caterpillar that developed from a monarch egg laid on a common milkweed plant (Asclepias syriaca) in a Petersburgh Monarch Waystation of 300 milkweed plants.

Growing milkweed is a way to help restore habitat for migrating Monarch butterflies. You can learn more about establishing a waystation at https://monarchwatch.org/waystations/
