BCS Superintendent Is Retiring
by Doug La Rocque
Dr. Stephen Young has announced he plans to retire, effective December 31. The announcement was made at a special school board meeting on Tuesday, September 22. In his letter to the board, Dr. Young said he would like to see someone who can commit many more years than him to come in now to the district and continue to move it forward.

Dr. Young completed his ninth year at the helm of the Berlin Central Schools in August, and has overseen capital improvement projects and many positive educational developments. Board President Frank Zwack tells The Eastwick Press they are beginning a search for a new superintendent in conjunction with BOCES, who has the expertise to handle such a search and at little or no cost to the district. The search for Dr. Young’s replacement will formally begin on September 25.
