New Statue Blessed At Our Lady Of The Snow
Estella Myers Hovnanian has lived on Route 2 in Grafton her whole life. Her family home’s backyard sits across Owen Road from Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church. Estella remembers her mothers’s many trips to sit by the statue of Mary at the old St. John Francis Regis Church. She said it was comforting to just sit and visit. The tradition continues today. Estella, a good neighbor keeps an eye on the church.

During the isolation caused by COVID-19, Estella often walked to the Grotto and around the church grounds. In doing so, see noticed how weathered and beyond repair the statue was. She made up her mind to choose and then donate a new likeness of the Blessed Mother to the church community.
On Sunday, September 27, just before the 9:15 am mass, Estella and her husband George presented the new statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary to stand in the grotto at Our Lady of the Snow. The community gathered around the trees while Father Sam Bellafiore blessed and dedicated the statue, lead prayer and singing on that beautiful fall morning.
Grafton is grateful to George and Estella for their kindness, generosity and community spirit and for the many other ways the have impacted their community.
