Mass Food Giveaway Coming To GLSP
by Doug La Rocque
Very similar to what took place in Hoosick Falls this past summer, Catholic Charities Mobile Outreach Vehicle Extension program, in conjunction with the Regional Food Bank of Northeast New York, the Grafton Lakes State Park, the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department, the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office, the Capital District Area Labor Federation and The Eastwick Press, will conduct an extensive food giveaway on Monday, November 9. Pickup will begin at 9:30 am and last until about noon or earlier if the food is gone.

Available that day will be a variety of fresh vegetables, frozen chicken and pork, milk, eggs, bread and other items. Those who wish to receive food should enter the park’s main entrance on Route 2 in Grafton, following directions to the main parking lot. There, several stations will be set up so vehicles can drive up and food will be placed in your vehicles in a contactless manner. This program is absolutely free and open to anyone during this current pandemic.
A Little Help Please
As with any program like this, it only works if there are enough volunteers. Catholic Charities is looking for volunteers to help in the packing and distribution of food items. Masks and gloves will be provided. Volunteers may also take a box of food items as needed.
Those willing to help are asked to arrive at 8:15 am. Interested volunteers may RSVP to volunteer@ccrcda.org or news@eastwick
press.com. You may also call 518-203-7574.
