Hoosick Falls

Christmas Is Coming! Adopt A Tree For The Festival Of Trees

Remember when you were young and driving through a village decorated for the holidays made a magical memorable impression?

Hoosick Falls is that small town that brings back those memories and continues to make new ones for our children and grandchildren.  These aren’t just images from the past; here in Hoosick Falls, they are a reality.

This holiday season Hoosick Rising and the Village of Hoosick Falls are teaming up again and building on the success of previous years by coordinating and sponsoring the “Festival of Trees”.  Evergreen trees in barrels will be placed along the streets of the Historic District.

A look back at last year’s Festival of Trees at Greywacke Meadow. Eastwick Press File Photo.

For the last two years Hoosick Rising has assisted the village to accomplish this but it doesn’t happen without the effort of many people.  It takes community participation.

In holidays past, each tree was assigned to a local business or organization in the downtown and placed in front of their business, with the expectation that the business would decorate the tree. This season, in order to give the Festival of Trees the biggest effect, the trees will be spaced as evenly as possible along the main thoroughfares of the village’s downtown, which will have the most visual impact.

All 40 holiday trees will be up for “adoption” this year!   Adopting a tree means that, although there is no cost for the tree itself, you will take responsibility to light and decorate (and maintain) the tree, in any theme or design you wish.  The decorations can reflect your business, family, or farm or just express holiday spirit.  You may also decorate one in honor of a loved one.  Have fun with it and make it a family event.

Hoosick Businesses, organizations, farms, and residents, even those not located in the village who want to participate are encouraged to take part in the Festival.

To adopt a tree, please contact hoosickrising@gmail.com.  Please note:  Even if you have had a tree in the past, you will still need to contact Hoosick Rising to adopt a tree.
