Liberty Memorial Park Part of Wreaths Across America Day
National nonprofit Wreaths Across America (WAA) has announced that Liberty Memorial Park in Hoosick Falls will be joining in the effort to support the mission to Remember, Honor and Teach, as an official location for 2020. This is the first year that the park – which honors Hoosick’s 103 fallen servicemen lost from the Civil War to the Cold War – will participate in this national event.

Wreaths Across America started as a simple gesture of thanks that has grown into a national movement of dedicated volunteers and communities coming together to not only remember the nation’s fallen and honor their service, but to teach the next generation about the sacrifices made for us to live freely. This year, there will be more than 2,100 participating locations placing wreaths on National Wreaths Across America Day, Saturday, December 19, with more than two million volunteers coming together. The goal for Liberty Memorial Park is to raise enough funds to place 103 veterans’ wreaths on the crosses of the fallen servicemen honored at the memorial, to ensure that the individuals who died in the course of protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten, and to bring the community together in patriotic commemoration.
Those interested in volunteering for Wreaths Across America, or sponsoring a wreath for Liberty Memorial Park, are invited to contact the Hoosick Township Historical Society at 518-686-4682 or staff@hoosickhistory.com to learn more. Liberty Memorial Park’s wreath laying ceremony will take place at noon on Saturday, December. 19, at Liberty Memorial Park (located inside Maple Grove Cemetery, 210 Main Street, Hoosick Falls). National Wreaths Across America Day is a free, non-political, community event open to all people.
