Town Board Approves Sewer And Water Resolutions
by Denise Wright
On October 8 the Schodack Town Board held a productive meeting highlighting sewer and water decisions besides numerous other resolutions. Its first resolution allowed for a sewer extension for the new Stewart’s Shop constructed at 1811 Columbia Turnpike on property formerly owned by Mayakis Associates LLC. Another decision amended the Town of Schodack Sewer Code. This resolution “provides for capital costs to be allocated to each parcel of property within the sewer district.” The sewer code assessment is based on the front-line footage where the sewer mains are constructed. The Board also approved the Town of Schodack Water Regulations. This resolution allocates costs to each property within the district. The water regulations assign an Equivalent Dwelling Unit (EDU) to a single-family residence with an estimated water usage of 72,000 gallons or less ranged from 1.0 EDU for a one-family dwelling with acreage to a 1.5 EDU a one family residence with an accessory apartment. The decision also included commercial properties, vacant lots, and exempted properties such as wetlands.
