Residents Get Haircuts for “Locks of Love”
by Amy Modesti
Amy Reger of Hair or There has been involved with Locks of Love for nineteen years. Serving as a hairdresser for the towns of Berlin and Grafton, Reger has made it her mission to provide beautiful hair transformations to her clients, especially to those who wish to donate their hair for the babies.

Berlin resident, Tina (Bernard) Oswald, and her friend, Mary Dayhaw, came to Reger to have their hair cut. Both women donated 10” of hair to Locks of Love. Tina said she was inspired to “help the babies out and doing it in Mary’s honor.”
Dayhaw chose to have her baby soft virgin hair cut to help babies who are undergoing cancer treatment. There are plenty of babies who have childhood cancer and lose their hair while undergoing treatment making the need for children’s wigs essential. “There’s a lot of them (referring to the children who have cancer who need wigs). It makes you wanna cry,” said Tina.
Tina recalled a beautiful moment at her hair appointment when Mary was singing along with her favorite song, “Who Let the Dogs Out?” from The Baha Men. Mary got a kick of the singers barking like dogs in the popular tune. It was not only the song that brought her joy, but it was also her need to provide these children the love and joy through her donated hair that brought her happiness.
Hair or There provides Locks of Love for a price discount or for free (depending on the circumstances) and ships the hair out for the client, making it easier to donate. If you wish to donate your hair to Locks of Love, contact Reger to set up an appointment for your haircut.
