Christmas Trees Again Adorn Village Streets

by Steve Bradley

For several years the Festival of Trees has seen the main streets in the Village decked out with evergreen trees placed in barrels and decorated by sponsors, primarily downtown businesses.

This year, through the auspices of Hoosick Rising, there are 40 trees being placed strategically around the primary thoroughfares with businesses, organizations, families and anyone really who wants to express their holiday spirit adopting a tree and decorating it before Thanksgiving.

Patty Damon, left, Renee Parker, on curb and Parker’s daughter, Sophia, decorate a tree in front of Parker’s store Little Sprouts on Church Street in Hoosick Falls. The trees were procured by the community organization Hoosick Rising and donated by Elhannon Nursery in North Petersburgh. The trees dress up and add color to the streets to get everyone into the holiday spirit. Photo by Steve Bradley.

The trees will remain in place until January 8, when they will be collected and disposed of.

Besides adding to the beauty of the Christmas season, Hoosick Rising is also hoping the Festival of Trees helps to bring added commerce to the Village, as those who come to admire the trees also take some time out to shop in area businesses.
