Let Young Bucks Go
White-tailed deer season is open for bowhunters now. The firearm season for our area opens November 21. New York State recommends that hunters, “Let young bucks go and watch them grow.”
For bucks to get bigger bodies and larger antlers, they need to grow older. Nearly all bucks in New York with four points or less are considered yearlings.
