Miller Museum And Gift Shop Open During Holidays
The Louis Miller Museum, home of the Hoosick Township Historical Society, will be open for weekend business during the holiday season, along with its gift shop, which is fully stocked with handmade crafts by local artisans. Appointments can also be scheduled during the week.
The museum is home to hundreds of artifacts that detail the rich history of the Town of Hoosick and the Village of Hoosick Falls dating back to the days prior to the American Revolution. Included are numerous items and documents detailing the life and work of folk artist Grandma Moses and the history of the Walter A. Wood Mowing & Reaper Machine Company. The museum also features an extensive collection of genealogy records and period newspapers and census documents.
The Museum and Historical Society supports the international Shop Small initiative. The gift shop contains a multitude of items such as holiday ornaments, quilted items, tote bags, drinkware, framed art, many of which are handmade by local artisans and business owners. The shop also features a collection of authoritative books on local history.
“We’re glad to have the museum open during the holiday season,” said Joyce Brewer, Director of the Museum. “It’s an opportunity for families to connect with our local history during a special time of year. And while you’re here, you can grab a unique Christmas gift for someone and support our local businesses at the same time.”
The Louis Miller Museum, located at 166 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, will be open Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 pm each weekend leading up to Christmas. You may also call to schedule a specific appointment time to visit: 518-686-4682.
