Singing In The Season Of Lights
A Moment of Hope in a Dark Year
by Amy Modesti
Of course, it’s about a lot more than lights as the countdown to Christmas begins, but as the annual lighting of the Stephentown Christmas Tree took place once again, perhaps the lights this year signaled everyone’s wish for a better year to come.
Saturday, November 28 was a cold and blustery evening, but that didn’t stop many residents from gathering around the tree at the Stephentown Veterans Park, joining Town Supervisor Larry Eckhardt, Santa Claus and Frosty the Snowman in some heart warming renditions of favorite Christmas carols and songs of the season. Hot Chocolate helped warm the body as well.

Following the caroling, the tree was lighted and those present had the chance to do a little social distanced gathering while exchanging holiday greetings. Perhaps, given the year we have all experienced, those greetings contained the wish of hope, health and happiness in 2021.
