Ashby Calls for Vac Plan And Small Business Recovery
Submitted by the Office of Assemblyman Ashby
On Monday of this week, January 11, Assemblyman Jake Ashby issued the following statement in response to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s State of the State Address.
“The primary concern of New Yorkers today is how we plan to recover and move forward from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Unfortunately, Gov. Cuomo failed to outline a long overdue and much-needed plan to effectively distribute the COVID-19 vaccine to our community. Our local governments have developed detailed plans and formed powerful partnerships with local organizations to streamline the process, but their efforts are currently being stymied by Gov. Cuomo’s delayed rollout, unclear guidelines and unwillingness to share important information. This has led to unnecessary confusion and the unfortunate delay of our neighbors being inoculated.
“Furthermore, Gov. Cuomo gave little insight into his plans for protecting small businesses. Although it was encouraging to hear the governor finally state that shutting down small businesses was not the correct answer, he coupled that statement with threats of future lockdowns and the absence of any concrete idea to provide assistance to our local businesses who are struggling to survive.
“I remain committed to working with Gov. Cuomo and fellow state and local leaders to streamline our vaccination process, provide the desperately-needed assistance for small businesses and ensure our schools and community organizations are properly supported – anything short is a disservice to every New Yorker.”
