Lighting Up The Night For The Kids

by Doug La Rocque

For many of us, the challenges of 2020 have continued into the New Year. As adults, we know first hand how hard this is. However, we cannot ignore the fact our younger children, and indeed, many members of the community, are missing out on so many activities that they cherish. For that reason, those in the Berlin Elementary School are hoping to bring some happiness with a New Year’s event that is spread out across the district.

It is called “All Aboard to Light Up the New Year,” and takes place on Saturday, January 23, from 5 to 7 pm. Many community businesses and organizations in Stephentown, Berlin, Petersburgh and Grafton have banned together to put on a light display and hand out small treats to the youngsters. A complete list of all the participants is included on this page. Some are drive through, while others will have a walk in station to greet the children with a smile and a little present.

We at The Eastwick Press are proud to participate, and we sincerely hope you, as parents and guardians, will take a few moments out of your Saturday evening to bring your children to some of these locations. Let them have something to smile about, and enjoy some light in what has been otherwise some very dark days.

Our thanks also to those in the Berlin Elementary School community for coordinating such a wonderful event.
