Lighting Up The Night

Throughout the Berlin Central School District, businesses, municipalities and various groups and organizations took part in a program called “All Aboard To Light Up The New Year.

Sponsored by the Berlin Elementary School, the goal was to bring some happiness with a New Year’s event, particularly for children, but members of the community as well, that have missed out on so many of the activities they love and cherish because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A collage of all the places that took part in the program, in Stephentown, Berlin, Petersburgh and Grafton. Collage by Rachel Turetsky.

The Eastwick Press was pleased to join the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department, Grafton Rescue Squad and the Town of Grafton’s Highway Department, as all organizations brought several pieces of equipment, and lit up the night outside the former Grafton Elementary School in a blaze of red, white, blue and yellow. We thank all those organizations that helped us put a smile on a child’s face, despite the sub zero wind chills of the evening.

Many other organizations and towns took part in this as well, and to those, please accept our thanks.
