New Lebanon & Berlin Swimmers Gave It Their All

by Rachel Turetsky

Berlin CSD Communications

Friday January 15, was an exciting night for the New Lebanon/Berlin Swim Teams who got back in the water for their first meet. The team’s fans were able to cheer for the Berlin/New Lebanon swimmers by watching a live stream of the meet on Facebook.  Thank you to New Lebanon Library Media Specialist Ms. Buckenroth for making the live stream possible.

A lone swimmer competes at the Shatford Pool while his opponent swam at his home pool in a virtual meet. Photo provided.

The boys and girls both came up short against Taconic Hills this time, but they are looking strong and ready for the season ahead.

Alex Sotek won the 100 Butterfly and then won and reset her school record in the 100 Individual Medley.  Allison Slater had a great showing winning the 500, nearly setting a school record and then won the 100 Breaststroke.  Chloe Meyers had a strong meet as well, placing second in both of her individual races.

Liam Buckenroth won both of his individual races swimming the 200 and 500 Freestyle. Matt Kluck won both of his individual races as well, swimming the 50 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke. Winter Exley also had a strong swim winning the 100 Freestyle.

Congratulations on your first meet swimmers! Best of luck this season! We will be cheering for you virtually.
