Clapp Resigns As Water Superintendent
by Alex Brooks
Petersburgh Supervisor Dennis Smith has alerted The Eastwick Press that Leonard Clapp, who has been serving as Superintendent for the Petersburgh Water District, has resigned from the post, effective immediately.
Assistant Water Operator Michelle Todd is in the process of getting licensed as a Water Operator, and Clapp had previously said that he would stay on as Operator until Todd was certified to take charge of the Water District operations, which was expected to be some time in April. But Supervisor Smith said “a financial dispute with Lenny has resulted in his resignation.”
Todd has passed all of her tests to become a water operator, but a new water operator is supposed to work under the supervision of an experienced water operator for several months before taking sole charge of a water district.
The Town of Petersburgh is in discussions with Hoosick Falls Water Operator Jim Hurlburt to ask him if he would serve as Petersburgh’s Water Operator (with Todd handling the day to day duties at the Water Plant) for a few months until Todd is certified to take charge as Water Operator, but the matter has not been settled yet.
