Truck Slips, Pins SUV Against Guard Rails

A pickup truck towing a horse trailer with one horse aboard slipped into the other lane on a greasy Route 7 Monday afternoon, January 11 and pinned a SUV with one man inside against the guard rails, leaving the man unable to exit the vehicle. The truck and trailer had to be pulled away from the SUV before Hoosick and Pittstown firemen could extricate the man. The accident happened just east of the Warren Cemetery Road intersection with Route 7.

A Rensselaer County Deputy Fire Coordinator looks over the accident scene Monday. All occupants of the vehicles escaped without any life threatening injuries, including the horse, who was transported from the scene. Photo by Steve Bradley.

The man was transported from the scene by the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps with non-life threatening injuries, the driver and passenger in the pickup were not injured. The horse was uninjured and safely transported away. NYS Route 7 was closed for a short while by the mishap. The New York State Police and Rensselaer County Sheriffs Department also responded to the scene.
