The January 14 meeting of the Schodack Town Board had several resolutions to organize for the upcoming 2021 year. The Town Board meeting calendar was approved for the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Transfer station holidays were reviewed and approved. The transfer station will be closed on Mondays and will observe any Monday holiday on Tuesdays. Appointments for Town positions were approved, including naming councilman James Bult as Deputy Supervisor.
Emergency services appointments included approving members of the Schodack Fire Investigation Unit, Fire Marshalls for all town buildings and contracts with the Castleton and Nassau Volunteer Ambulances for emergency medical services. The first full-time female police officer, Carrie Kane, was appointed and approved by the Board. The police department also received approval to purchase a 2021 Ford Utility Police Interceptor AWD, an approved 2021 Budget item.
The Town also was approved to purchase a Tandem Axle Dump Truck that is an “HTE Cross Conveyor Shoulder Machine, Plow, Wing Plow with Material Spreader.”
Resolution 2021-075 accepted two roads by the Town in the Hidden Pond Subdivision by Khan Development. The streets will be known as Hidden Pond Road and Hannahs Circle.
The Water Main installation for Curtis Lumber “consisting of approximately 650 feet of water main, hydrants, valves and appurtenances along Columbia Turnpike and easement” was accepted and approved in resolution 2021-076.
Supervisor Harris concluded the meeting by cautioning residents to stay safe because of the “upswing” with the COVID situation. He hopes everyone will continue wearing their masks and continue to social distance.”
