by Doug La Rocque

There were 20 resolutions before Town Board members on Monday, January 4, all typically what they see at each year’s first board meeting. These include allowing Supervisor Larry Eckhardt to pay utility bills and payroll prior to the Board’s monthly audit, and setting the dates for the Board’s monthly workshop and regular meetings, those being the second and third Mondays of the month, respectively. Other resolutions authorized the town payment of $6,000 to the Stephentown Museum, and a contract with the Stephentown Fire Department for $3,500 for the use of its fire hall by town organizations.

The meeting also made a number of appointments and re-appointments. Owen Cassavaugh was appointed as both the Building Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer, Maggie Benker was re-appointed Dog Control Officer, Henry Wagar is Constable, and Larry Eckhardt continues to handle the bookkeeping chores. Agnes Hoffman will serve as Senior Transfer Station Attendant. Tracy Grant is the Clerk to the Assessor, Tammy Whitman Court Clerk, Arlene Longo Deputy Town Clerk, Laurie Gilliland is both Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals Clerk and Stephanie Wagar continues as Registar.
