Delgado Votes To Impeach President Trump
On Wednesday, January 13, the United States House of Representatives voted to impeach President Donald Trump on the charge of “incitement of insurrection.”

Congressman Antonio Delgado, who represents the rural portions of Rensselaer County, voted in favor of the impeachment process. His office put out a press release, in which he is quoted as saying “On January 6, the President incited a violent insurrection of the Capitol while Congress sought to uphold its constitutional duty to certify election results.” Mr. Delgado also said “Today, I joined more than 200 of my colleagues in supporting the article of impeachment against President Trump. Protecting our democracy from ongoing threats requires swift action.”
On Tuesday, the Congress voted 223-205 to call upon Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th amendment, by which he and the Presidential Cabinet, could vote to remove the President immediately. The Vice President has refused to do so.
North Country Congresswoman Elsie Stefanik, who represents Washington County, joined other Republican representatives in voting against the measure.

In her press release, she said “we must work together to unify at this challenging time for the American people. This political resolution sets a very dangerous Constitutional precedent and further divides our country. I believe we should focus on ensuring a safe transfer of power on January 20.
