NLB Girls Swim Team Wins A Pair Of Meets

February 12, 2021 By steve bradley

Results reported by Swim Coach Tim Christiansen

The Girls started out the week with an impressive 101-55 win over Wahconah High School of Dalton, MA. Alex Sotek placed first place in the 500 Free, 100 Breaststroke and the 200 Medley and 400 Free Relays. Allison Slatter placed first in the 200 Free, second in the 500 and first in the 200 Medley and 400 Free Relays. Chloe Meyers placed first in the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Free. Abby Seyerlein, Mikayla Corsey and Carol Kirsimagi also had a great meet.

The most exciting race of the night came against teammates.  Alex Sotek and Allison Slatter faced off in an epic battle in the 500 Free. Last Friday Allison broke Alex’s 500 Free record and  they now swam against each other to see if they could once again set a new school record.   The two swimmers started off neck and neck and it continued for most of the race. In the end, Alex pushed past Allison to win the race and set a new school record in doing so.  These two competitors pushed each other to the limit with Alex dropping 10 seconds off the school record and Allison dropping 4 seconds off her time from Friday.

The Wahconah Boys edged out the New Lebanon/Berlin Boys by a score of 74-69.

Great swims by: Riley Schwartz in the 200 Free. Matt Kluck placed in all four events, 50 Free, 100 Breaststroke, 200 Medley and 400 Relays. Winter Exley in the 100 Free, 200 Medley and 400 Relays

Liam Buckenroth also placed in the 500, 200 Medley and 400 Relays

Brayden McMillian had a strong meet placing first in the 200 Medley and 400 Relays and second in the 100 Free.
