Water District Citations Are Bogus

by Chris Tergliafera

Water District #2 Superintendent Benedikt Krahforst is taking issue with 3 violations handed down from the Rensselaer County Department of Health. In a letter read at the Berlin Town Board on Thursday, March 11 Superintendent Krahforst stated he has disputed the violations and had sent the documentation the County claims wasn’t submitted. He was informed by Water District #1 Superintendent Timothy Jensen that they too have received multiple violations which they state are invalid. Most of the violations have to do with claims of reports and paperwork not being submitted.

Rabies Clinic On The Horizon

Dog Control Officer Doug Goodermote reiterated from last month’s meeting that the town is still planning on having a rabies clinic. The hope is to have the clinic in the spring. A date has yet to be set but will be once the veterinarian to be used is available.

Buying A New Truck

The Highway Department is looking into the possibility of replacing one of its trucks. The truck in question is getting to the point where it’s requiring frequent service and repairs, and replacing it entirely may just be the best option. Highway Superintendent Jim Winn stated that they have received a quote for a new truck, and the board approved a motion to look into the matter further and get more details on the potential purchase.

Other News

Code Enforcement Officer Alan Yerton stated that while things have been slow, plans are being looked into and made for five new homes to be built. A motion to approve Zoning Board of Appeals member Vick Lewin to another five year term was unanimously approved. The justice audit that was originally set to take place last month will now take place on March 25 instead.
