Looking Forward To A Green September

Information submitted by Kevin O’Malley

As has been reported by The Eastwick Press in previous editions, the Hoosick Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee has decided to postpone this month’s parade, because of the continued risk associated with COVID-19. The committee has now officially said it hopes conditions will allow them to hold the parade in September, halfway to the scheduled 2022 edition.

St. Paddy’s Day is not being forgotten though. The Committee is looking to turn the village into a two week celebration of the “green.” Through St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, the organizers are asking residents, organizations and business to “get your green on” and “show us your shamrocks.”

Sightings of the “green” are beginning to pop up all over the village, and the committee is looking for the best residential and commercial displays. Prizes for the best of all things green will be handed out on Saturday, March 13, the day the parade would have been held. There will be a small awards ceremony at Wood Park at 1 pm that day, followed by a march around the village, to enjoy some of the many St. Patrick’s Day displays and festivities that are planned.
