Wild Accident Shatters Afternoon Calm

Hoosick Falls Police Press Release

Hoosick Falls Police responded to a report of a vehicle into a building on Classic and Main Streets in the Village on Wednesday, March 3 at about 2 pm. The investigation determined that a pickup truck driven by a 59-year-old male struck a parked car and pushed the vehicle about 270 feet into a building causing extensive damage to the cars and the structure.

North Hoosick firefighters assist the Hoosick Falls Fire Department in removing the truck and the car from the Classic Street Building. The car involved was shoved further inside the structure, and is in front of the truck. Photo by Steve Bradley.

Both vehicles ended up inside the building, which until recently, housed Doug’s Oil. No one was in the building and the driver of the truck was transported to Albany Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.

It is believed that the driver may have suffered a medical condition and upon striking the parked car he accelerated pushing the vehicle into the structure.

Witnesses of the accident were able to enter the building and put the truck into park and pull the driver out of the vehicle. Investigation is continuing.
