Old And New Faces On The Village Board

Tuesday, March 16 was election day in the Village of Hoosick Falls. The Mayor’s chair and four Board of Trustee seats were on the ballot. According to the village website there were a total of 140 votes cast, 115 of them in person and 25 by absentee ballot.

Mayor Robert Allen received 112 votes, his was the only name on the ballot. Trustees Bob Ryan (who also serves as Deputy Mayor), Kevin O’Malley and Emily Marpe was all re-elected without opposition.

The one contested race was to fill the unexpired term of former trustee Vanessa Lewis, who resigned when she moved outside the village limits. No petitions were filed for the seat, meaning it became a write in contest. The winner of that was Bob Decker, who received 59 votes to Megan Walread’s 37 and Dan Schutting with 11. One vote was cast for Mare O’Niel.
