Spot of Green
The Common Greenshield Lichen (Flavoparmelia caperata) usually grows on the bark of trees. Lichens are classified in the fungi kingdom. It is estimated that six to eight percent of earth’s surfaces are covered in lichens. There are some 20,000 species.

They come in many colors, and the color will vary depending on whether it is wet or dry. This one was found in the woods of Petersburgh.
