Lawmakers Support Cuomo Investigation
Submitted by the Office of the Legislative Majority
The Rensselaer County Legislature approved a resolution supporting investigations into Governor Cuomo’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak and cover-up at nursing homes at its Tuesday, March 9 meeting. The resolution also supported the NYS Legislature’s attempts to revoke his executive powers. After allegations of sexual harassment were made against Governor Cuomo last week, the resolution was later amended to include support for a thorough investigation into those allegations.

The resolution was adopted by a unanimous vote of 19-0. It had bi-partisan sponsorship and had the support of all of the Legislators with Erin Sullivan-Teta as the only lawmaker not signing on in support.
In July of 2020, the Legislature adopted a resolution calling for an independent investigation into Governor Cuomo’s deadly nursing home directive. That resolution passed 13-6 along party lines.
In January of 2021, Attorney General Letitia James issued the results of her investigation that concluded that a larger number of nursing home residents had died than what was reported.
“We have seen growing bipartisan support from state legislators that are looking to curtail the Governor’s Executive Powers. The Rensselaer County Legislature has bipartisan support for our resolution calling for continued investigations into the Governor’s cover up of nursing home deaths, and an investigation into the sexual harassment charges that continue to pile up against him,” said Chair of Finance Bob Loveridge of East Schodack.Re
