New Virtual Class at SML!

The Battle of Britain: How the British Developed and Employed an Air Defense System to Defeat the German Luftwaffe in 1940.

Part 1: Wednesday, March 31 at 6:30 pm

Part 2: Wednesday, April 7 at 6:30 pm

In the late spring of 1940, Britain stood alone against the victorious German Army and Luftwaffe.  In less than a year, German arms had defeated Poland, Norway, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and Belgium; the last three in only a few weeks.  Hitler directed his air force, the Luftwaffe, to destroy the British Royal Air Force in preparation for an invasion of the British Isles, the successful invasion of which would almost certainly have led to Hitler’s ultimate goal of German domination of all Europe.

In this extremely informative class, Greig Seidor, retired lawyer and former educator at Berkshire OLLI, The Taconic Learning Center, and the Berkshire School will explore in detail with over a hundred illustrated slides, the British Air Defense System that was paramount in stopping the German invasion during the Battle of Britain in 1940.

This program will be held via the Zoom Platform. If you are unsure how to use it, please don’t hesitate to call us for help! To register and for more information, visit the Stephentown Library’s website or call us at 518-733-5750.
