Hoosick Falls / Tamarac 6 14 14 0 34

Saturday, March 27. The Hoosick Falls / Tamarac football team dished out its second straight shutout to the Watervliet Cannoneers Saturday at HFCS. Bryan Mackey started the scoring with an eight yard run to get the Wildcats off on the right foot in the first quarter. The missed conversion gave the Wildcats a 6-0 head start. Quarterback Greg Mays tacked on the next score when he ran six yards for the first second quarter score. Tucker Thayne hauled in a 28 yard pass from Mays later in the quarter to run the score out to 20-0 at the half.

Hoosick Falls / Tamarac continued the domination into the third quarter when Mays threw another TD pass, this time to James Blake for 38 yards. The Wildcats capped the scoring with another Mays pass to Tom Chalewa that went for 28 yards. Andrew Yeardon booted two of two points after touchdown attempts.

The Wildcats Peyton Nealone romped around the field 27 times for 161 yards. Quarterback Greg Mays threw ten times, completing six with three of those for touchdowns. Mays receiver James Blake caught two passes for 45 yards. Five receivers caught one pass each, Tom Chalewa for 28 yards, Brian Mackey for 26 yards, Tucker Thayne for 19, Hunter Clayton for nine yards and Joshua Colegrove for minus four yards.

This Friday the Wildcats are scheduled to play Taconic Hills on the Tamarac field on Route 2. Game time is 7 pm. 

Other Scores: Fonda 40 – Corinth / Fort Edward 14; Mechanicville 12 – Granville 8; Ichabod Crane 26 – Taconic Hills 22; Schuylerville 48 – Johnstown 0; Lake George / Hadley-Luzurne 56 – Helderberg Valley 0; Greenwich 36 – Stillwater 7; Lansingburgh 15 – Chatham 8.

Notable: The Cambridge Indians had its entire sports schedule canceled or postponed this week due to a COVID-19 outbreak.
