Resting on Eggs
Wood Frogs (Lithobates sylvaticus) in the area highlands began their annual breeding in woodland vernal pools this past weekend. In this photo, a male wood frog sits on a pile of eggs deposited earlier by a couple.

Wood Frogs are two to three inches in size and the male makes a quack-like sound during their spring rituals. Conserving forest wetlands is important to the survival of wood frogs.
