Hoosick Falls-Tamarac Gets Easy Win

October 28, 2021 By Eastwick Press

Hoosick Falls-Tamarac: 42
Corinth (0-6): 0

It was not expected to be a competitive game. It wasn’t.

Two minutes into the game the Wildcats led 14-0. With three minutes left in the first quarter, HF-T led 28-0 and the game was over at that point. Every point in the game was scored before the half. Junior varsity players were inserted midway through the second quarter and played the remainder of the game.

Quarterback Jake Sparks threw for 162 yards (6/7) and three touchdowns in just over a quarter. Wide receiver Dylan Baker had 108 yards with two catches and scored on a 29 yard punt return.

Anthony Palladino scored on a one yard run and cornerback Richie Stifter picked a Corinth fumble and sprinted 42 yards for a score. Place kicker Abby Buckley was successful on six of six extra point attempts.

As with Mechanicville last week, this is another team that has suffered the consequences of a failed merger. Corinth and Hadley-Luzerne school boards approved a merger agreement, the uniforms were designed, but Lake George players and parents protested and put the kabosh on that. Both teams face each other this week with losing records.

You have to give Corinth/Hadley-Luzerne credit—they played the game when they could have backed out. Then they played the entire game like they were seven points down.

This Friday evening the Wildcats will host the Hudson Blue Hawks (5-3) at the Hoosick Falls Central School. Hudson lost to the Schuylerville 45-0, the only 2021 season common opponent. The game is scheduled to begin an 7 pm. There may be a $6 sectional game charge, so be prepared for that.

Other Class C sectional games this weekend include: Taconic Hills (3-4) at Schuylerville (8-0); Fonda (5-3) at Class C South division champion Watervliet (7-1); and Cobleskill (5-3) at Voorheesville (6-1) on Saturday.

Crossover games Friday between Class C and D teams Friday evening will be Warrensburg at Chatham, Ichabod Crane at Greenwich and Lake George at Corinth/Hadley/Luzerne. Saturday games will be Granville at Helderberg Valley and Stillwater at Cambridge-Salem.
