Hoosick Falls Wins Bowling Tournament

On Tuesday the teams of the Wasaren League gathered at Saratoga Strike Zone for this year’s Wasaren League Tournament. Berlin-New Lebanon, Hoosick Falls, Hoosic Valley, Mechanicville, Saratoga Catholic, Stillwater and Waterford-Halfmoon all sent teams of seven bowlers.
During the morning block of three games, Hoosick Falls 3276, Mechanicville 2906 and Stillwater 2860 had separated from the rest of the field. In the afternoon, Hoosick Falls was able to add to their lead, finishing in first place with a total of 6315 pins, 532 ahead of second place Mechanicville with 5783. Stillwater finished in third, with a total of 5656 pins, followed by Waterford-Halfmoon with 4846, Berlin-New Lebanon with 4598, Saratoga Catholic with 4564 and Hoosic Valley with 4300.
Individually, Stillwater’s Connor Julian led all bowlers with a six game total of 1350 and a three game high of 701 and a high game of 245. Hoosic Valley’s Leigha Henkel was second overall with a six game total of 1315, three game high of 679 and high game of 254 on his way to a 1152 total and a 596 three game high. The tournament’s biggest single game came from Hoosick Falls’ Bradley Senecal, who rolled a 256.
The Wasaren League postseason will continue later this week with the first round of the playoffs as Berlin-New Lebanon travels to Stillwater on Thursday. The winner will advance to the second round for a match against Mechanicville. The winner of that match will then advance to the finals against Hoosick Falls. The Wasaren schools will also be competing in the Section 2 Tournament taking place at Boulevard Bowl from February 10 through 15.
